
Sunburn is due to excessive exposure to the sun's ultra-violet ( UV ) rays. The sun's ultra-violet rays are the ones responsible when we have a sunburn. There are two types of ultra-violet rays, ultra-violet A ( UVA) and ultra-violet B ( UVB ). Both are very strong and harmful to the skin. UVB rays attack the skin's outer layers, while UVA are rays that attack the underlying layers. Sunburn is also similar to sun poisoning. In medical terms it's known as photo dermatitis which is a allergic reaction by your skin to overexposure to the sun. In the case of sun poisoning, however, the reaction is a bit more severe and the symptoms may become seriously uncomfortable. Sunburn is literally a’ burn' to the skin that's caused by overexposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays. The energy contained in the UV rays is absorbed by the skin and slowly builds up over the course of exposure. A short exposure may cause tanning, longer exposure can cause burns.

Aloe Vera Gel

• You should take all these precautions in a cloudy day also because clouds allow a lot of UV to enter and hurt the skin.
• Always use sunglasses to cover your eyes against UV radiation. You will protect your skin around the eyes.
• Apply sunscreen lotion that will protect you from harmful UV rays.
